Engineering exports to Brazil were almost nil in FY2025-26, so this is a market to open. Brazil imported US$30.1 billion of electrical machinery and electronics and US$47.1 billion of machinery in 2025 — including US$851 million of electric batteries and US$607 million of refrigerators and freezers — and US$20 million of bicycles.
Bicycles pay 31.5% import duty in Brazil, and bicycle tyres 25% until May 2027; lead-acid starter batteries, refrigerator-freezers and household electric appliances pay 18%. Bicycles, helmets and electrical goods are subject to INMETRO conformity assessment, with testing generally done in Brazil.
